SLQ Sports Leaders now offer a suite of professional qualifications to support those involved in the delivery of Physical Education (PE), School Sport and Physical Activity in schools and communities. If your organisation is interested in delivering these courses, you’re on the right page.
If you are interested in enrolling as a delegate on one of these professional qualifications, please visit the Professional Development Qualifications page.
How can we deliver professional qualifications from SLQ Sports Leaders?
SLQ Sports Leaders’ qualifications have been designed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE) to develop the knowledge, competence and confidence of school staff and coaches to deliver high quality PE provision in schools.
In order to deliver these qualifications, a school, centre or educational facility must become a Professional Learning Centre (PLC) with SLQ Sports Leaders. The following outlines the steps and considerations to become an approved PLC and start delivery:
• Apply to become a PLC through LEAP, including registering a course
• Complete the PLC Induction programme for the qualification(s) you want to deliver, leading to...
• ...Being awarded Approved PLC status
What is in the PLC Induction Programme?
Every PLC is required to fulfil three roles – these are Centre Course Manager (CCM), Tutor/Assessor and Internal Verifier. Please see PLC staff requirements below for information about the minimum requirements for the Tutor/Assessor and Internal Verifier.
Each role is supported through the PLC Induction programme so that everyone knows what expectations are before you start your delivery.
Induction for the CCM
• CCM etraining
• PLC Approval and Induction meeting with one of the SLQ Sports Leaders Quality Assurance team
Induction for the Tutor/Assessor
A live training event for Tutor/Assessors for all qualifications will be led by an education expert from afPE to ensure high quality coverage of the following:
• Qualification content
• Delivery ideas and activities
• Information on support after training
• Opportunities to share good practice
To register for the training, please click on the date and time below that is most convenient for you:
