It is well-evidenced that there are life-changing benefits to spending time outdoors and in nature. Research across the board points to the connection between being outdoors and improvements to both physical and mental health.
With Lowland Leadership, we have the opportunity to support delegates to develop essential leadership skills that will offer them the chance to bring these benefits to others.
Centres, including outdoor learning centres, colleges, forest schools use Lowland Leadership to upskill their teams, offer formal training and recognition to their volunteer workforce, and to train staff from across their organisation to be able to run Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver expeditions.
Although our origins are in sports leadership, we’ve had qualifications for the outdoor world for more than 25 years, with our popular BELA being followed in more recent years by Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in walk and expedition leadership.
We have three courses that qualify delegates to assist or lead walks and expeditions, and the full suite of specifications can be downloaded using the form at the foot of the page.
