Sports Leaders and AoC Sport are delighted to announce that they will continue their long-standing partnership, which supports colleges in developing students’ employability skills and gaining recognised Qualifications and Awards.
The partnership provides both organisations with the perfect platform to further their commitment to helping young people realise their potential through developing life-long leadership skills and behaviours. In addition, the partnership sees the two organisations working together to increase the number of students volunteering in sport and playing an active role in their local communities.
Through the delivery of Sports Leaders’ recognised and credible qualifications, colleges are supported in using sport and physical activity to develop vital employability skills in their learners, activating volunteering opportunities and helping deliver against the new Ofsted inspection framework in respect of building resilience and character.
AoC Sport is the membership organisation for colleges, focusing on the development of sport and physical activity in 16+ education. Working with Sports Leaders provides AoC members with access to Qualifications and Awards that help prepare students for their next step into higher education, employment, apprenticeships or training through the development of five key skills: Communication, Self-Belief, Teamwork, Self-Management and Problem-Solving.
In addition, the partnership offers AoC Sport members access to a discount on accredited awards and tutor training, as well as seeing additional recognition and profile for colleges which are part of the AoC Sport Leadership Academy, highlighting the outstanding work they do to support learners in building their personal skills, both within and outside the curriculum.
Leadership and volunteering opportunities offer learners an exciting and engaging way to supplement their social and academic development. The formally recognised and quality-assured Qualifications and Awards from Sports Leaders are ideally suited to learners aged 16-19, providing them with a trusted platform to demonstrate their ability to build transferrable skills in a dynamic environment, while boosting their confidence as effective leaders.
Richard Norman, Chief Executive at Sports Leaders, believes that the continued partnership with AoC Sport is excellent news for everyone involved. He said: “We are excited about our continued work with AoC Sport and looking forward to extending our relationship with colleges up and down the country.
“Further Education is a key area for the development of transferrable skills in young people, many of whom will be embarking on their first education experience away from school and beginning to consider their future careers. By working with AoC Sport in this way, we have a fantastic opportunity to help learners develop the skills that employers have identified as being essential to their success.
“We continue to be passionate about helping young people realise their potential through the delivery of our Skills Framework, which has been developed in collaboration with Youth Employment UK. Working in partnership with respected national organisations like AoC Sport allows us to extend our reach, provide more opportunities for young learners and encourage positive social action through community volunteering and leadership projects.”
