Our List of Partners
We have worked with Active IQ to shape the leadership part of their Level 2 Certificate in Health, Wellbeing and Physical Activity Leadership. Our Level 2 Qualification in Sports Leadership is embedded in the qualification so all learners can access two qualifications in one course.
We partnered with 14 Active Partnerships from across England to create a new accredited award – The Activity Volunteer Programme. The Activity Volunteer Programme designed for young people aged 13 and over offers an accredited learning pathway with a focus on building transferable core skills. Face to face learning and pre-recorded videos were created enabling flexibility with delivery.
AoC Sport is the membership organisation for colleges, leading the development of sport and physical activity in 16+ education. They champion the believe that leadership qualifications and skill development are essential components of college life, giving students significant advantages in education, employment and health. Many Further Education colleges are qualifications centres with Sports Leaders but are also members of AOC Sport. Visit the AoC Sport website
ASCL is Britain's leading professional body representing over 18,500 school and college leaders in all phases across the UK. Their members are responsible for the education of more than four million young people. ASCL works to shape national education policy, provides advice and support to members and delivers first-class professional development.
Sports Leaders will be supporting British Blind Sport’s See My Voice project by offering learners with visual impairment an accessible qualification. The qualification will focus on building learner’s employability skills, confidence and motivation to get involved in volunteering in sport.
Sports Leaders and CIMSPA are working together to create an employability skills and behaviours matrix that can underpin the professional standards developed for the sport and physical activity sector. Once created, the matrix will give individuals a simple view of what behaviours are expected of them to enter employment in the sector and at the subsequent stages of professional development.
The Gannochy Trust was founded in 1937 by Arthur Kinmond Bell, known as A K Bell, for charitable and public purposes. The trust currently funds Sports Leaders to operate with a specific Project Officer for Scotland. This enables specific targeted work to be carried out in Scotland, often in areas with the highest need and financial hardship.
Sports Leaders is the awarding body for the accredited Leadership Award in Hockey, delivered by Hockey Wales.
Our partnership with Les Mills supports schools and a new generation of children, parents and carers to be physically active through the love of movement. Les Mills training courses are accredited by Sports Leaders with an online training platform also having been developed by Sports Leaders to create a new wave of BORN TO MOVE Activators throughout schools in the UK, who will go on to facilitate BORN TO MOVE Virtual classes.
Our partnership with the Lord’s Taverners has enabled the creation and accreditation of the Table Cricket Leaders Award, a training programme which develops young people’s leadership skills, allowing them to undertake various roles at county, regional and nation level Table Cricket competitions.
We partnered with the LTA to create new content and accredit the Tennis Leaders award. We created a new core module which introduces the five skills from our Skills Framework within a tennis context. The updated Tennis Leaders award will launch as part of a new LTA Youth programme for Secondary Schools. The Tennis Leaders award will provide tennis leaders aged 12 and over an introduction to Leadership and will be delivered in school and community settings.
The Mulberry Trust is a grant making trust that aims to strengthen family life from the very young to very old through education. The trust currently funds Sports Leaders to operate with a specific Project Officer for Scotland. This enables specific targeted work to be carried out in Scotland, often in areas with the highest need and financial hardship.
The Robertson Trust is currently the largest independent trust in Scotland and has a vision to improve the quality of life and realise the potential of people and communities in Scotland. The trust currently funds Sports Leaders to operate with a specific Project Officer for Scotland. This enables specific targeted work to be carried out in Scotland, often in areas with the highest need and financial hardship.

Sport England
Sport Ireland plans, leads and co-ordinates the sustainable development of competitive and recreational sport in Ireland. In partnership with Sports Leaders, all 29 Local Sports Partnerships are involved in delivering Sports Leadership qualifications through in schools via a network of qualified leadership tutors.
Sports Leaders and Sport Wales work together to have effective sports leadership programmes embedded across Wales in schools, colleges, universities and community clubs and organisations to support the vision of a dynamic, skilled and diverse workforce leading and delivering sport in Wales. In the past 3 years this has resulted in over 20,000 qualified Sports Leaders.
The Torch Trophy Trust has provided bursaries to both new and existing Sports Leaders Centres to help establish or extend delivery in areas of high deprivation. The bursaries have also supported organisations where their leaders have disabilities.
ukactive's membership, which stands at over 3,000 members, includes operators of fitness facilities of all sizes, as well as local authority leisure centres, leisure trusts, outdoor fitness providers, trainers, sports providers, education and training providers, lifestyle companies, equipment suppliers and charities. They provide services and facilitates partnerships which support the vision of more people, more active, more often to improve the health of the nation. Sports Leaders have previously partnered with them on the Asda Active Sports Leaders UK Programme
The partnership with UK Deaf Sport will see the development of an accredited curriculum and delivery resources to give young deaf people the skills and confidence to get involved in supporting the delivery of sport with a focus on deaf sport.
Sports Leaders have developed the ‘Fit to Lead’ strand of United Learning's trust wide PE curriculum along with a range of accredited awards to complement the programme and allow all United Learning students with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
Sports Leaders are the awarding body for the accredited Leadership Award in Gymnastics and Leadership Award in Trampolining, delivered by Welsh Gymnastics.
We partnered with the Youth Sport Trust to develop and accredit - The PE Life Skills Award. The PE Life Skills Award provides schools with a framework to recognise and reward the development of essential life skills in and through PE.
