National Governing Body Officiating Award Requirement
In order for learners to complete their Level 2 Award in
Community Sports Volunteering they must gain a National Governing
Body award in officiating.
Learners may have completed a National Governing Body award
during other training. Therefore, this award can be recognised as
prior learning towards the Level 2 Award in Community Sports
Volunteering. However, the learner's National Governing Body award
must be current and valid.
Current: Some awards have an expiry date. In
order for a National Governing Body award to be recognised as prior
learning, it must still be in date when the Learner Certification
Form is returned to Sports Leaders UK.
Valid: There are a number of different National
Governing Body awards on the open market. Sports Leaders UK does
not mind which award your learners choose to do.
What is accepted as an National Governing
Body award?
Sports Leaders UK will accept an award or qualification that is
assessed in any of the sports recognised by the Home Countries
Sports Councils. A list of these can be found at Sport England
- Which sports do we recognise?
Please Note: Sports Leaders UK recognises the
awards from the sports, so if a recognised National Governing Body
is not present, a body that delivers the sports courses will be
accepted as long as the sport itself is recognised.
As a Tutor/Assessor you will need to bear this in mind when
planning this part of your course.
