Level 1 Award in Sports Volunteering

The Level 1 Award in Sports Volunteering provides the ideal starting point for learners aged 13 years and over who wish to develop their volunteering skills, whilst under the direct supervision of their Tutor/Assessor or other suitably qualified adult.

The syllabus is designed to develop generic volunteering skills that can be applied to a variety of sports and/or recreational situations as well as contributing to the personal development of the learner.

The Level 1 Award in Sports Volunteering is a practical qualification in which learners must demonstrate their ability to volunteer in simple sport and/or recreational activities.

The learner does not have to have sporting aptitude to complete this qualification as it will be their volunteering skills, not their sporting ability, that will be assessed.

  • Age: 13+ (please note, there is no upper age limit for this qualification)
  • Guided learning hours: 28 hours (including five hours of volunteering)
  • Costs: A full list of prices can be found on the Fees & Charges page

Applications to run the Level 1 Award in Sports Volunteering can be made online or by contacting Sports Leaders UK to request a Course Application Form.

An Approved Assessment Centre must have a minimum of one trained tutor at Level 1 to be eligible to run the Level 1 Award in Sports Volunteering. Specific training is available through a half day course. Apply online or contact Tutor Training on tutor-training@sportsleaders.org for more information.
