Literacy Leader Award
Sports Leaders UK is delighted to respond to the demand from the
world of Physical Education and Sport to share our expertise in
developing Leadership Across the Curriculum.
For many years teachers of subjects outside of sport and dance
have been keen to emulate the success they have witnessed in using
leadership in the PE and Dance Departments in their own specialism
and the Literacy Leader Award aims to do just that.
The Literacy Leader Award is not concerned with using sport to
teach literacy (writing about how a game might be played or
reporting on a football match for example). Instead the award
teaches leadership skills and enables successful candidates to lead
small groups in simple literacy based activities (for example,
teaching the basic structure of a sentence) whilst under direct
supervision of their tutor.
We are also confident that by learning how to lead others, your
candidates will develop a greater understanding of the subject
area, which in turn will lead to an increase in their personal
attainment.
