Sports Leaders UK is pleased to announce Olympic medallist
Katharine Merry as its latest official ambassador for the charity,
who will advocate the work of Sports Leaders UK across the
country.
Her Majesty the Queen learns about sports leadership courses,
and how they help young people, on a visit to Devon Army
Cadets.
Olympic Gold Medallist, Jason Gardener, recently joined Devon
School Sports Coordinators at their annual conference. The event,
which took place in Tiverton was opened by Young Ambassador, Max
Oliver, who received a one-to-one motivational session with the
'Bath Bullet' before addressing the 60 strong audience.
Sports Leaders UK is working in partnership with sports
organisations in the West Midlands to offer a free community sports
programme to help young unemployed people gain the skills they need
for employment.
Sports Leaders UK, the charity that changes lives,
has achieved a record breaking result of 202,638 registered
candidates, topping last year's record by more than 1,000.
Linda Plowright, Chief Executive of Sports Leaders UK, and
Carolyn Cant, QA Manager took part in the Extra Mile
Challenge cycle relay through France on the 25, 26, 27
September, to raise money for a number of charities including
Sports Leaders UK.
Sports Leaders UK has announced its partnership with
Change4Life, the nationwide movement which aims to help people make
changes to their lifestyles so they can eat well, move more and
live longer.
Denise May MBE, Director of Sport and Assistant Head Teacher at
Budehaven Community School in Cornwall, was randomly selected
as the winner of a prize draw after she completed a Sports Leaders
UK customer satisfaction survey.
The Sports Leaders UK Foundation has been awarded £100,000 by
the Garfield Weston Foundation, which will go towards establishing
a further 100 Sports Leaders UK Outreach Centres, and assist in the
running of a number of partnership based community projects.
Linda Plowright, Chief Executive of Sports Leaders UK, will join
the Extra Mile Challenge cycle relay through France in September as
part of the Heald Solicitors team 'WellHeald'.
