New Qualifications and Credit Framework

The new Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) will replace the current NQF on 1 January 2010.

Sports Leaders UK will begin to move all its qualifications onto the new Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) by April 2010, which will replace the current National Qualifications Framework.

The move will not affect the value or the content of the Sports Leaders UK qualifications but provides a new, clearer way of recognising achievement through the award of credits for units and qualifications.

Sports Leaders UK will take the opportunity of the move to the new framework to simplify and clarify learning outcomes and assessment criteria. Explanation of the criteria will be more user-friendly, through basic premises, underlying principles and candidate achievement of the qualifications will remain the same.

In the new QCF, every unit and qualification will have a credit value, with one credit equivalent to 10 hours of learning. There are three sizes of qualification in the QCF:

  • Awards - 1-12 credits
  • Certificate - 13-36 credits
  • Diplomas - 37 credits or more

In the coming months, Sports Leaders UK Tutor Resource Packs and candidate Log Books will be revised or rewritten to coincide with the move to the QCF.

To find out more about the QCF, follow the link below to the QCDA website.
