What is Cornwall Sports Partnership
Cornwall Sports Partnership is an affiliation of organisations
that have joined forces to make sport a part of everyday life in
Cornwall. Incorporating a number of sectors from across the county,
our wealth of joint experience includes: health, education, local
government, National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs), police and
the economy.
At the centre of our Partnership is a 'core team' of
professionals driving strategic co-ordination, marketing and
communications, and performance management. Forming a key link in
the chain between local needs and regional and national policy, our
main aim is to make a marked difference in sport in Cornwall.
The main funding for the 'core team' - one of 49 county sports
partnerships across England - comes from Sport England, with
hosting arrangements by Cornwall County Council.
Perpetually striving to increase, develop and sustain
participation in community sport is at the heart of what we do. The
focus of our work has three main key areas: coaches, clubs and
volunteers.
We look to constantly grow the relationship between school,
community and performance sport to ensure that young people can
realise their ambitions.
By supporting the development of high quality clubs, we aim to
increase club membership and to work closely with schools as a
driving force for providing pathways into those clubs. Through
community sports networks, we help to develop a local
evidence-based approach to increasing participation in sport.
We work alongside our partners to ensure there is a co-ordinated
approach to sport and active recreation for everyone in Cornwall,
from young to old, and to fulfil their sporting ambitions whether
this be for fun and enjoyment, health or achievement.
Sport and active recreation is our core service. By doing this
well, the doors open for the vast array of other benefits to be
achieved through sport. Recognition of the wider picture is the
reason the Partnership includes partners with interests in the
health, educational attainment, community cohesion, economic
vibrancy and positve behaviours of our population.
